The Bucks County Choral Society, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, begins its 38th concert season - A Season of Great Works – with "A Night at the Opera", featuring the choir and stellar soloists from Philadelphia's Academy of Vocal Arts.
"A Night at the Opera" will present a wide range of operatic favorites for choprus and soloists including the
Anvil Chorus from "Il trovatore" and the finale from "Falstaff" by Verdi, Argento’s
Gloria from "The Masque of Angels",
March of the Toreadors from Bizet’s "Carmen", the
Prisoner’s Chorus from Beethoven’s "Fidelio", Wagner’s
Bridal Chorus from "Lohengrin", and more.
Featured soloists from The Academy of Vocal Arts include several of tomorrow’s opera stars-in-the-making. Soprano Cristina Nassif will sing a Verdi duet and a Rossini aria, and mezzo soprano Olivia Vote is part of a Mozart duet and sings with the choir for Purcell’s
When I am laid in earth. Tenor John Viscardi contributes an aria from Lalo, and bass Scott Conner sings Mozart and Thomas.
