The Choral Society is joined by Symphony in C and a stellar quintet of soloists for the modern regional premiere of César Franck’s The Beatitudes in an 1899 Catherine M. Bradley translation. This iconic sacred text has rarely been set to music. Franck brings these words of peace and reconciliation to bear on the turbulence of his own time.

See and hear Artistic Director Thomas Lloyd's Listener's Guide to Franck's Beatitudes.

Symphony in C is one of only three professional training orchestras in the United States preparing musicians and conductors who are building world-class careers

“Symphony in C is to the Philadelphia Orchestra what the Vienna Symphony is to the Vienna Philharmonic (the former is sometimes credited with outplaying the latter).”
